Harvest Festival 2022

Every year in September many churches, schools, care homes, community organisations and places of work reach out to their communities to raise awareness of food poverty and collect food and basics for the Harvest Festival on behalf of the New Forest Basics Bank.

We are elated to report that, despite the cost-of-living crisis and the resulting increased food prices, we had a remarkable response this year!  Thankfully our shelves have been replenished for the time being, ahead of what we fear will be a tough winter with an increased demand for food parcels. We are currently supporting between 400 and 500 families every week, with demand steadily increasing.

Food and basics donations from local organisations and individuals are critical to our ongoing operation. Moreover, donations of money allow us to purchase additional items that have not been donated in sufficient quantities and to include fresh products such as milk, eggs, and cheese in our clients’ food parcels. Please know that when our clients receive a parcel from us, it is with great relief, and much appreciation, that they can see themselves through another week in these difficult times.

It is with the support and interest of our entire local community that we can continue into our 19th year and help those individuals and families who are going through a very difficult period and need a helping hand. Our operation relies 100% on donations and volunteers, hence all offers of assistance are very welcome. The New Forest Basics Bank could not do what we do, without you!
